Holiday Eating

Every year I see the same excuses about how we can’t do things because it’s the holiday season. I personally just joined WW (Weight Watchers) and I’ve seen a few people already say things like:

“Why now? You should of waited until after the holiday season!”
“There’s no sense in eating healthy during Christmas!”
“Why would you deprive yourself during the holidays?”

And quite honestly, it’s a bunch of bologna.

Do you know how many holiday meals I plan to have this month? Two. If I eat three meals a day this month, that would be 93 meals. I think it’s more insane to suggest I throw away an entire month because of two planned Christmas dinners.

“But what about the sweet treats?!”

I’ll let you in on a little secret. You don’t have to deprive yourself! There is a difference in having one cookie and eating the entire box. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying eat a pint of ice cream every night and it’s healthy. But for me, I can have a cookie on Wednesday, enjoy my sweet treat and not throw away the rest of the week because I feel I “failed”.

When you allow yourself to enjoy things every now and then, you don’t feel like you are really missing out on much. Which in turn means you’re more likely to have success.

So what does all my rambling mean? That the perfect time to start is NOW. There is no perfect time, and you’ll be waiting forever if you think there is. Don’t let the holidays be another excuse not to reach your goals.

You are worth it to start now.
